Chapter 6

Question: Based on the information in chapter 6, would you prefer to teach in a classroom that had more or less digital technologies? Why or why not?


After examining the pros and cons of using technology in the classroom, I would prefer to teach in a classroom that has some basic technology (computers) but not somewhere where the amount of technology was overwhelming.  I would like my students to have access to the internet and all the other tools that a computer can offer.  I feel like when students have access to other things, such as handheld computers, the distraction factor outweighs the benefits that it offers. Also, I would feel a lot of pressure to keep all the technology up to date.  It would be hard to make sure that every student was not only staying on track with their work but also keeping the technology in good condition.  I feel like students do need to have access to some technology because it can be very beneficial but the use needs to be in moderation.
