Chapter 11

For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom. Post your responses on your blog page you created for this class.

Audio:

Traditional- Audio cassettes (talking book)
Audio cassettes can be used in the classroom by playing the book on tape for the students.  They can follow along or listen and respond to questions.

Emerging- Internet Radio
Internet Radio can be used by providing students with a live or recorded program.  Students can be exposed to almost any subject including language, social studies, science, and current events from all around the world.

Visual:

Traditional- Transparencies
Transparencies can be used with an overhead projector to magnify and image to the whole class.  Handouts can be put on transparencies or teachers can use a blank one to write on so the images are visible to the whole class.

Emerging- Document Camera
A document camera can capture and project an image from it's stand.  A more advanced idea than transparencies that gives the teacher more freedom with the images they can show the class.  Teachers also don't need to waste making the transparencies because they can just place a book page under the camera for the whole class to see.
